Layla Mailoudi Helps Middle School Students Discover Their Leadership Styles
Students at Fairfax County’s Herndon Middle School kicked-off the academic year with a skills-building workshop focused on identifying and understanding diverse leadership styles in today’s workforce. Presented by Layla Mailoudi, Talent Specialist, K-12 at Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and Think Big for Kids Board Member, students explored how every individual, no matter their personal approach to leadership, can make a meaningful impact.
The event featured interactive sessions during which students could assess their own leadership styles—whether they are more collaborative, visionary, strategic or supportive. Through hands-on activities, they discovered that every style has a role to play in driving successful teams and organizations. Students left with the empowering knowledge that their unique strengths are valuable assets in any career path they choose to pursue.
Think Big’s workshops provide opportunities for middle and high school students to learn about the soft skills necessary to develop an educational and career path. Topics from goal setting and interviewing to collaboration and problem-solving are presented in fun and engaging ways designed to build confidence.
During the workshop, Layla shared powerful insights into the importance of embracing your personal style and using it to contribute effectively in the workplace. “Great leaders come in all forms. Whether you lead by example, by inspiring others, or by providing support, your leadership matters. You don’t have to fit into a specific mold to make a difference—you just have to be true to who you are.”
