Richard Shorten
Advisory Board Member
Gifted with growing up in the magnificent high-country of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Dick learned to “Think Big” as a young boy and has since sought to encourage anyone around him to seek their own wider-horizons for self-actualization.
Dick’s formal education includes a dual-degree in Business Admin./Economics (Univ. of Puget Sound), an Electrical Engineering degree (N.Y.U.) and a M.B.A. (Stanford). His diversified experience in big business involves both line and staff management roles with General Electric, Samuel Goldwyn’s film Productions and Owens-Corning Fiberglas. Then as a principal with a large multi-national consultancy he served clients from Europe and U.S. in over 50 industries and subsequently has owned or served as CEO/President of three mid-size companies.
Dick is now a Chairman Emeritus after 20+ years with Vistage International, a world-wide organization of over 25,000 CEO’s and senior executives. In that Chairman role, each month he lead several CEO Boards of peers and C-Suite executives, then mentored them individually toward an expansion and realization of their role as business and community leaders.
Think Big For Kids offers Dick a unique opportunity for helping our youth to see and expand their own personal horizons and launch their dreams much as the Colorado Rockies did for him.
