Tampa Bay Tech Firm Donates to Local Think Big for Kids on National Giving Tuesday

MyArea Network, a Tampa-based tech company connecting businesses with locals, will be donating all profits on Tuesday, May 5 to Think Big for Kids, as part of national Giving Tuesday (#GivingTuesday). Think Big for Kids helps underprivileged youth discover their potential with opportunities in career exploration, mentorship, and skills development.

Conlon’s company first launched the MyArea Voucher, as a local no-cost deals and vouchers for area restaurants, bars, retail stores, and event venues last month. The program is gaining momentum in the Tampa Bay Area as it allows consumers to buy vouchers at a discounted rate supporting their favorite local brands, while also generating revenue now for businesses that so desperately need support with the onset of COVID-19.

Today, Tuesday, May 5, all profits from the day will go to Think Big for Kids. Conlon says, “We’ve always been big supporters of Think Big for Kids and we’re so happy to help on a day that recognizes all the wonderful work non-profits do around the country.”

One of the voucher highlights is the ability for small, medium, and large-sized companies and organizations to buy vouchers “in bulk,” and deliver them to healthcare works or those in need during this challenging time.

Tampa attorney, Rich McIntrye, bought the vouchers for his staff. “I wanted to treat my team to a free lunch as a thank you, and to also help local restaurants we know are hurting. It’s a great way for businesses to support other businesses in our community and, even better, to recognize the work that Think Big for Kids is doing.”
Conlon says, “Many of our 813area and 727area partners are experiencing difficulties pivoting to capture customers right now. Buying and gifting these vouchers can help our hospitality partners navigate these challenges. Since 2015, MyArea Network has been committed to keeping our communities strong. This time is no different.”

Amy Alley, Executive Director of Think Big for Kids says, “Think Big for Kids is extremely grateful for the support we are receiving from our volunteers and partner organizations. We are finding ways to stay connected with the kids, even if we can’t spend time together in person. Our focus is on virtual content, including Virtual Career Showcases and Job Readiness Workshops, in an effort to keep career exploration top of mind for our students. Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and support of our mission so Think Big can reach even more kids in need.”
