Spring Career Showcases Underway

After a successful Fall 2019 of Career Showcases, spring 2020 is off to a strong start with both founding partner companies and new companies bringing Career Showcases to middle school students at 10 Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay.

Career Showcases provide awareness of and exposure to many different career options by inviting our partner companies to come into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay to interact with students about their company and jobs at their company.    A typical Career Showcase starts with an introduction to the company and the representatives from the company.  Then students engage in a hands-on activity to see what jobs at the showcase company are really like – the hospital may bring in an artificial body for CPR, our electrician will build lamps with students, kids will play a Jeopardy game about cyber security, and many more interactive ways to get kids excited.  Career Showcases typically conclude with time for the students to share out and ask questions about what they learned and jobs at the showcase company.

This spring, students will participate in Career Showcases from our volunteers at ReliaQuest, Bank of America, JDP Electric, DXC Technology, Roger West, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Caspers Company, Haneke Design, Tampa General Hospital, Nielsen and Painters on Demand.
